4.26.13 - IKUNA Inspiration

Many of my earlier posts talk about what IKUNA is and the story behind what inspired it. We see and hear examples of IKUNA everyday. These stories are etched into history as heroic tales; the stories of legends. Books are written about them and we are often at the movies inspired by the life stories acted out on the silver screen. On that note, it is my chance to celebrate Racing Dawn. It's her birthday today!

Happy Birthday!

A couple of years ago, Dawn set out to run 12 marathons in 12 months. You could read about her awesome journey at www.racingdawn.blogspot.com. She'd already run several marathons before this and even more after this but 12 in 12? C'mon! Who does that? Racing Dawn did. Many people don't realize what goes on behind the scenes and the preparation it takes to do something like this. It was challenging, she battled through injuries, and it was one of the funnest experiences we've had as a family. If you asked her about it, she'd play it down. I know better though - she's the real deal. But now that 12 in 12 is in the rear view mirror...she still has Boston in her sights (and many other things) despite the recent events that took place there. She's got her eye on something - I just don't know what it is yet :) but whatever it is, we look forward to the adventure that it will bring.

Too often we get caught up with things that in the 'long run' (pun intended) mean nothing. At the end of the day what's really important? Shirts? I don't think so. What really matters? Well, you'll have to answer those same questions for yourself. But to me, managing 5 kids, a nagging husband, keeping our home together, training, AND running a small business (and a million other things) you are what the word IKUNA represents. Part of life is about achieving the goals we've set for ourselves, overcoming the obstacles that stand in our way, and pushing ourselves to obtain the victories that come from the hard work we put into it. That's you. You've done that all along. One day your story will be talked about by our children's children's children's children. They'll be proud of you just like we are.

So today, IKUNA can wait - we celebratin'

HAPPY BIRTHDAY,

Overcome. Achieve. Victory. IKUNA

For sneak peaks of the new line follow us on IG, FB, Twitter, and Pinterest (struggling with Pinterest but I guess I'll get there eventually:). We will start posting there soon after our birthday celebration, maybe even during - items will be available on our site shortly after.
